On 9th May 2012 I will be one of 24 student nurses chosen from a list of thousands to take part in the Escorting of the lamp, a commemorative service which takes place in Westminster Abbey in London UK. The Abbey itself holds up to 2500 people and on previous ceremonies has been filled to capacity by various dignitaries and nursing patrons from around the world. It is very humbling to be asked to do this as the main reason I went into Nursing in the first place was because I was unemployed and needed a job. Now I have been hand picked to represent Nurses from all round the world in this prestigious event. Wish me Luck!

This drink is known as a Brain Haemorrhage Half fill a glass with Peach schnapps, layer some Baileys Irish cream on top then layer Blue Curacao onto the Baileys. Finally drip Grenadine from a height to pull the Baileys down through the schnapps causing it to curdle et viola, a small violin.....

University and being ill.

Well I can provide positive proof that strong painkillers do affect ones ability to study at university. Last year my average for assignments was 79%. So for this year I have done and had marked 2 assignments, both written with taking a combination of Codeine phosphate and a cocktail of antibiotics following my perforated appendix and my average is 50%. I think the pain factor may have also contributed to my lower grades but I can't be sure. Still a pass is a pass.

Android Blogger.

I have just installed the Blogger app for my android. It never ceases to amaze me how far and how fast technology has come in recent years. I suspect that the aliens we stole the tech from might come looking for it some day.

First time blogging so things may not go as planned. I am not sure why I decided to start this but I have reached a point in my life where I feel that I need to keep track of what has gone before lest I forget it. As mentioned I am doing an adult nursing degree at LJMU and am currently halfway through my second year. I recently had an appendectomy, which was the first time I had been a patient in a hospital since I was 9 years old. It scared me more now than it did then, growing up we expect a few knocks and scrapes and broken bones ( I think I have broken most of mine) but as an adult when things go wrong we look for reasons and blame everyone and everything we can. My appendectomy will feature heavily in my blogging for a while as I am still in excruciating pain even 10 weeks after. The scars have healed over fine but the actual place where my appendix used to be is agony. I visit the docs tomorrow to find out if this is natural or if there is anything else wrong and if not is there anything I can do to make the pain go away.
